Camp Chef Pursuit 20 Portable Pellet Grill Smoker Review
Camp Chef sent this little animate being to me a couple of months ago and I tin can tell yous right up front end that for a portable pellet grill, it is everything you need and more than for an RV or a camping trip where size matters.
Permit's just start from the top..
It arrived in a huge, heavy duty box.
The box was well traveled but upon opening information technology, I could meet that Army camp Chef did what they had to do to protect it during shipment with lots of protection around the unit of measurement. It did not have a single scratch or dent.
They also sent some extra stuff– e'er a dainty thing when a company thinks of everything you'll demand to go upwardly and running for a review.
I peculiarly like the foil grease bucket containers. Yous simply use one for a melt, throw it away when you're done and it's zero cleanup. The grill comprehend will be excellent while it'southward gear up upwards at the campsite and the behave pocketbook will protect the car, truck or RV during travel likewise as keep the smoker from getting scratched.
I finally got it out of the box and as you lot can see, the legs fold up underneath making it super portable.
I was able to unfold the legs and go it upright within mere minutes all by myself. Some other set of easily would exist nice but non required.
As yous can see, information technology has everything a much larger Camp Chef pellet grill has including the controller, 2 meat probes, canteen opener, ash cleanout organisation + locking clasps on the main lid and on the hopper chapeau then yous don't have to worry nearly it coming open during transport.
Information technology also as the slide and grill engineering which lets you movement the estrus deflector to the side allowing the flames to come up through the slots in the drip pan when you need a little burn on your hotdogs, steaks, burgers, etc.
No chimney but it allows the fume to exhaust via cutouts in the back wall of the grill.
Full bottom and peak grates– NICE feature for a portable pellet grill!
The grates are approximately 13.5 inches deep 10 xviii.25 inches wide for a total of 501 square inches.
The hopper has a locking clasp on it and then the pellets stay intact during transport.
In that location'due south likewise a safety grate in place so you lot don't have to worry about the kids sticking their hands downwards in the pellets/auger while information technology's running.
I wish this one had a pellet dump for changing out pellets but since it only holds x lbs, I guess they figured it wasn't equally necessary.
The controller is the typical Camp Chef controller with two meat probes
As presently as I got it ready, I put about v lbs of pellets in information technology and turned it on 275 for well-nigh an hour for it'southward initial fire in. After than I turned information technology downwards to How-do-you-do Fume and it maintained around 225°F give or have 15 degrees with more than enough fume for anything I'd desire to do.
As I mentioned, I wish it had a pellet dump on the hopper but that's not too big of a deal. You tin can effigy on using about one lb of pellets per hour so it's pretty easy to figure upward how many pellets y'all demand based on what yous're cooking and how long it volition take and just add together enough pellets to get you past. Go along an centre on the hopper and y'all can add a few more if you need to.
I also think the legs could be a piffling beefier. I don't feel like information technology'southward going to collapse but it doesn't always experience every bit stable as I like. I did notice that if I pulled out on the legs once I had it set up, it sits a little more sturdy.
As I melt on information technology, I may find other things to gripe almost just equally information technology stands now, my gripes are very few and if it's like the other Army camp Chef equipment I've used, I'll be a happy camper, literally.
If you love to camp or yous practise the RV lifestyle, this affair is for you. Then far, it's the best portable pellet smoker I've seen and I am confident that you will love it every bit much every bit I do.
You tin bank check information technology out further Hither.

How does information technology compare to the Pit Boss for smoke?
What is the weight of this grill?
Just wondering how this Camp Chef compares to the Grilla Chimp portable pellet smoker.
I accept non used the Grilla Chimp however, based on my tests on other Grilla pellet smokers, the Military camp Chef units produce a LOT more smoke than the Grilla make of smokers. In my opinion, that is the most important thing you lot take to look at when purchasing a pellet smoker. Some brands just aren't able to produce plenty smoke and, to me, that'southward simply not an issue that tin be tolerated in pellet smokers.
Other than that, looks like it has some similarities in cooking infinite and hopper size.
